MICS workshop in Nagpur

CIMS Holds a MINIMAL INVASIVE CARDIAC SURGERY (MICS) WORKSHOP at Vardha – Nagpur

The Cardiac Surgery Team of CIMS (Dr. Dhaval Naik, Dr. Niren Bhavsar, Mr. Ulhas, Mr. Manan) was invited by ABVR Hospital, Vardha – Nagpur to perform Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS).

MICS is a procedure under which instead of the 8-10 inches cut in the traditional surgery, the surgery is performed by making only a 3-4 inches cut.

It was the first time MICS was performed in this hospital and Vardha district. And remarkably, 3 MICS (AVR, MVR, and ASD closure) were performed in succession (an outstanding and rare feat).

This was another feather in the cap of pioneering Cardiac Surgery team of CIMS which has been responsible and been one of the first in establishing the MICS program in Western India. The workshop was followed by an educational lecture by the Dr. Dhaval Naik, Cardiac Surgeon for the local doctors.
