Overview :

• Pioneer in establishing coronary, non-coronary, congenital and structural heart disease interventional programs in Gujarat, India.
• One of the most experienced cardiologist of India having extensive training at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai, Christian Medical College, Vellore and Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute, Lucknow.
• The first doctor from Gujarat to possess two highest degrees in cardiology – DM and DNB. With 30 years of experience in cardiology, The National Board of Examination, New Delhi – the highest medical education body in India, has appointed him as a post-graduate teacher in cardiology.
• International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, Winnipeg, Canada has awarded “Distinguished Service Award in Cardiovascular Science, Medicine and Surgery” to Dr Milan Chag in February 2011, With 30 years of dedicated work in field of cardiology, he has been awarded with Fellowship of American College of Cardiology.
• Dr. Milan Chag is one of the top academician and best cardiologists in Gujarat and India. He is known to be an expert at complex angioplasties including angioplasties of LMCA, bifurcation lesions, calcific lesions with use of Rota-ablation and IVL, use of intravascular imaging (IVUS and OCT) and use of physiology(FFR and RFR).
• He is the First/ pioneer Cardiologist of Gujarat for establishing several clinical and Interventional programs in Cardiology: Neonatal and Paediatric Interventions- 1993 onwards
• Structural Heart Disease Interventions ( Including Valvuloplasty, Device closure of ASD, VSD and PDA, Para-valvar leaks, Coarctation angioplasty and stenting) – 1993 onwards
• Expert in Primary Angioplasty in Acute Myocardial Infarction Program -2001 onwards
• Percutaneous Transseptal Myocardial Ablation (Alcohol Septal Ablation) for Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy- 2003 onwards. Has single operator series of > 75 such cases, done successfully so far: the highest number in India
• Thoracic Endovascular Repair (TEVAR) for Aortic Dissection and Aortic Aneurysms – 2010 onwards
• The First Trans-Aortic Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement of India – done in March 2015: Successfully Established TAVR program at MCIMS ( > 28 cases have been done at MCIMS so far, the highest in Gujarat)
• After getting training of Heart- Lung Transplant and LV Assist Devices (Artificial Heart) at University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), Pittsburgh, USA in March 2016 along with surgical and anesthetist colleagues, established the Heart Transplant Program at MCIMS by successfully doing 50 heart transplants so far since December 2016.
